Leonard Cohen’s iconic 1969 version carried the song far beyond its origins, making it a haunting anthem of resistance, resilience, and the enduring hope of those who fight for freedom.
This rendition features the unmistakable voice of Tex Perkins, an Australian rock legend whose delivery adds a layer of complexity to the song’s narrative. From his work with The Cruel Sea to Beasts of Bourbon, Tex has always been an artist who knows how to channel heartache and defiance into raw, unforgettable sound.
