空中加油站乐队的灵魂人物格雷厄姆，1950年6月11日出生于英国的诺丁汉。早在童年时代，格雷厄姆就对诗歌、书籍和音乐感兴趣。11岁的时候，他开始尝试写作诗歌和歌词。母亲去世之后，格雷厄姆自学了吉它和架子鼓。
     1963年，格雷厄姆被披头士乐队深深触动。在观看了年头士的表演之后，他明白了自己到底想要干什么。1965年，格雷厄姆加入了一个名叫布鲁斯联盟的乐队，在这个乐队里，他演奏架子鼓。
     1967年，格雷厄姆与他上学时的女友琳达结婚。次年，他们的儿子西蒙出生了。不久，格雷厄姆便举妻携子移居澳大利亚的梅尔鲍恩，格雷厄姆创建了一个乐队，并开始在一些咖啡馆、民间音乐俱乐部进行演唱。1972年3月他的女儿出生。
